After skiing and snowboarding for the first day, we were blessed with a later wake-up, now having to leave at 7:30 instead of 7:00 AM. A half hour extra doesn’t seem like much, but we all woke up much more refreshed and excited. After arriving at the slopes and retrieving our gear from the rental shop, most of us split up and went our separate ways, having the advanced skiers explore some of the powder chutes while the beginners hung out on the bunny slopes. Personally, I enjoyed the scenic routes in between clouds diving into powder banks on the greens. For lunch, most of us took a ski lift up to a pizza hut (not the food chain but an actual hut) and took pizza down to the lodge. We continued on with our day and took a bus back to the lodge where we’re staying. The next day, the group divided into two separate groups, one of which went back up the mountain to go ski, and the other went shopping in Wanaka. I personally can’t speak for those who went skiing, but hanging out in the town was very enjoyable and relaxing with scenic views and small shops to visit. Now, both groups are reuniting at the lodge and preparing to go check out “Puzzle World.”
