Adventure to the Whitsundays

July 12th

We traveled from Sydney, Australia to the Hamilton Islands. Our trip to Sydney was fun and a great learning experience, but we were very excited for the warm weather in the Hamilton Islands. We met at 6:30 am to go to the airport for our three-hour flight to the beautiful white sand beaches of the Whitsundays. While landing, we all admired the clear, blue water sparkling in the sun. We were eager to get to our accommodations at Bush Village to relax and enjoy the weather, but a flight delay caused us to miss our scheduled ferry. Making the best of things, we had a relaxing lunch while waiting for the next ferry. After the one-hour Catamaran ride, we arrived to Bush Village where we played games, relaxed a bit, and hung out with friends. For dinner we enjoyed pizza pies and fresh salad. After dinner, we took a trip to the local market where we stocked up on Australian snacks for the night and, the boat. When we came back from our supermarket adventure we had a group meeting and discussed our plans for the boat.

This morning we enjoyed a variety of breakfast foods and made our own pancakes. We met the head of our crew, who explained our itinerary and safety procedures for the boat. At 10 am we headed down to the marina to see our adventure unfold.
