We arrived at Uluru for a brief guided base walk with our knowledgable guide, Ash. We saw caves, various plants, and all sorts of aboriginal artwork. We then drove about a mile out to watch sunset over Uluru, with various snacks and drinks provided. Following the sunset, we returned to our camp for a delicious grilled kangaroo meal and our last night of sleeping under the stars. The next day we woke early at about 5 am to catch the sunrise at Uluru. We then completed the full base walk, spanning 7 miles around the entire walk. Later, we returned to the campsite to pack up and have lunch before departing for Sydney. We got into Sydney in the late afternoon, and got settled in at the hostel. We got dinner at Spice Alley, an Asian food market, and celebrated Alexandraś birthday with cupcakes for desert. The following day, we hajjed 3 hours south via train to meet with Marie, an aboriginal, who taught us all about her native cuisine as we cooked with crocodile and emu eggs. We then returned to Sydney and had burgers for dinner while taking in the views at Bondi Beach. The next morning, we hopped on a train to Sydney harbor, where we explored for a few hours before taking an incredible tour of the opera house. During the tour, we even caught a glimpse of a rehearsal for an opera about an Egyptian princess. In the afternoon, we split into groups and explored the rest of Sydney on our own, with some groups going to various shops and a few even golfing at Moore Park. That night, we went to an authentic dumpling restaurant a few minutes from our hotel where George taught us all about Chinese foods and culture. This morning, we rose early to catch a flight to the Hamilton Islands, where we will begin a four day journey setting sail over the Great Barrier Reef.
