MADISON BAILEY
Colgate University, B.A., Peace and Conflict Studies, Anthropology; Columbia University, M.A., Human Rights Studies (candidate)
While at Colgate University, Madison majored in peace and conflict studies, with an emphasis on transregional communities, and minored in anthropology. She was the only student to have an emphasis on transregional studies. Madison is the first female student in Colgate University history to be elected Class President for all four years. She was also one of 10 senior students to work in the Colgate University Office of Admission as a Senior Admission Fellow. While an undergraduate, Madison spent a semester studying at the University of Sydney, Australia, and can’t wait to return. In the fall, Madison will attend Columbia University for the Master in Human Rights Studies program. Madison is the tenth member of her family to have gone on a Putney program. In 2013, Madison participated in Putney’s Community Service Tanzania program and is excited to come full circle and have the opportunity to lead.
KRISTOPHER RATH
Western State Colorado University, B.A., Recreation and Outdoor Education, emphasis in Outdoor Leadership
While at Western, Kris focused on experiential education and worked for Western’s collegiate Search and Rescue Team. After finishing school, Kris followed his passion of expedition rafting for four years exploring and working in southeast Alaska, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Ecuador’s Amazon river basin, and on Tasmania’s Franklin-Gordon rivers.When not on the river, Kris donates his time volunteering. Over the past five years Kris has worked with Mennonite Disaster relief services in the Midwestern U.S., Habitat for Humanity in central Guatemala, and Australia’s Camp Quality programs for families impacted with cancer. Kris now works as an outdoor educator and expedition guide, helping to promote experiential education and sustainable practices in the backcountry. This fall, Kris will be working with Indigenous Australian communities in Northern Australia.
